Growing Success
Thanks to your support, there are a further 3 nurseries with about 12,000 seedlings. These nursuries are located in Tulo and Ruvuma street (in Mlimani wards), and Mghambazi Street (In Magadu ward).
60 farmers are enrolled in the training program, with this number expected to grow. These farmers works in the Uluguru mountains in two wards, namely Mlimani and Magadu, which are the catchments of Morogoro River.
Benefitting Communities and the Environment
Your support has helped provide nutrition and education, that will result in sustainable income for the people involved, as well as benefitting their wider communities.
The project benefits the community living in the mountains as it provides tree species (fruits and other forest trees) that will be a good source of nutrition and income for the households.
Furthermore, the knowledge of Agroforestry they get through the education and training program will help farmers to improve yields of the associated crops.
The HeroTREEs project will have marked effect on improved water quality and quantity for the Morogoro town and beyond through Hydrological system maintenance and enhancement. The presence of trees in the catchment of Morogoro River (Mlimani ward) play vital role in:

The forests of the Uluguru Mountains are of critical importance to indigenous village communities, the cities of Morogoro and Dar es Salaam, and the survival of plants and animals found nowhere else in the world. Furthermore, the project area is of vital importance to for Morogoro city's water supply.
