Help Orphan Puppies November 2012 Update

By Christina Francis | President

Porter

Unfortunately the last 3 months have been difficult for us.  We have taken in several special needs dogs that have required extensive medical care and rehabilitation.  Fortunately they are all on the way to recovery and will hopefully find their new homes before the holidays.

Our lovely Porter had to have emergency surgery and now is a beautiful one eyed boy.  He is spending time learning that humans can be the source of positive touching and love.  He is also learning that other dogs can be wonderful play companions!

Then there is our little Hope.  Surrendered to a shelter after being poisoned, this little girl could not even walk.  Luckily a volunteer we had worked with before contacted us and we took her into our program.  Hope was taken to two different specialists and now has a clean bill of health, although neurologically she will never be 100%, she is just the happiest deaf puppy we have had in our program.

And finally, our beautiful Great Dane Duke is still with us.  He was the dog surrendered to our vet at the young age of 3.  His owners had brought him in to have him put down.  Fortunately our vet contacted us and we took him into our program.  This poor boy has clearly been abused and he has spent months learning that simply touching his head or body would not result in further abuse.

We hope that you can all continue to support our efforts, as without all of you, we could not continue to save so many of these dogs.  We hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday season!

Thank you from all of us at Help Orphan Puppies.
