War continues to disrupt education and social ties for children in Ukraine, with only 53% feeling part of their community. Through UActive, savED helps teenagers from small war-affected communities to rebuild connections by developing skills, implementing projects, and engaging with peers. The annual alumni gathering unites alumni from five regions, creating a vital offline space to reconnect, strengthen belonging, and build lasting relationships that empower youth to contribute.
War continues to disrupt education and social connections for children in Ukraine. In 2025, savED conducted study with Vox Populi, supported by the IRF and USAID. We explored how the learning environment and access to education shape children's sense of belonging. Only 53% of students feel part of their community. Key factors which shape this feeling include school satisfaction, friendships, and social opportunities. While 67% prefer face-to-face learning, only 41% join extracurriculars.
Through UActive, savED helps teenagers from war-affected communities rebuild social connections and strengthen their sense of belonging. Participants receive mentorship, develop practical skills, and implement community projects, learning to collaborate and take initiative. With over 1000 alumni across five regions, the annual gathering creates a vital offline space where young people can reconnect, form lasting friendships, and feel part of a supportive community again.
Last year`s event became a powerful space for connection, learning, and inspiration. Teenagers explored topics such as Ukrainian history, working with veterans, and career pathways, while also building meaningful relationships with peers. The emotions and feedback we receive from teenagers consistently highlights the importance of these offline events. By supporting this initiative, you help young people rebuild connections, strengthen their confidence, and become active contributors.
