Empower 800 children with birth defects in Chennai

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow, move and enjoy childhood with confidence.
Sometimes, a timely intervention and the right support can make a lasting difference in a
child's life. Vaishnavi's journey is one such example.
When Sridharan and Kalaiarasi welcomed their daughter Vaishnavi at Chengalpattu
Government Hospital, they were not prepared for the news that she had been born with
clubfoot affecting her left foot. Like any parents, they were worried about what this might
mean for their daughter's future.
The doctors immediately began treatment. Vaishnavi underwent a series of plaster casts
over three weeks to gradually correct her foot, followed by a minor surgical procedure and a
final cast. But the treatment did not end there. To prevent the corrected foot from returning
to its original position, she needed to wear a clubfoot brace regularly.

Unfortunately, the required brace was not available at the hospital where she was being
treated. The family was referred to the Orthopaedic Department at the Institute of Child
Health, Egmore,Chennai where Sukriti Social Foundation supports children by providing customised
clubfoot braces free of cost.
With your support, we were able to provide Vaishnavi with the brace she needed. Following
the doctors advice, she wore it continuously for two years. As she grew, the brace was
replaced four times to ensure that it continued to fit her properly.
There were challenges along the way, but Vaishnavi's parents remained committed to her
treatment and regular follow-up. Their dedication, together with timely medical care and
the right brace, helped her complete the treatment successfully.
After two years, the doctors gave the family wonderful news: “Vaishnavi clubfoot had
been completely corrected, and she no longer needed to wear the brace”.
Today, Vaishnavi walks confidently without any difficulty. For her parents, watching their
daughter walk freely is a moment of immense happiness and relief.
Vaishnavi's story reminds us that the right support at the right time can make a meaningful
difference in a child's journey. We are grateful to everyone who has stood with us and
helped make this support possible.
