Food hampers going to Cancer patients
As the Country is in the middle of the Covid19 crisis, we want to update you on what we are doing at Purple House on the frontline to support Cancer patients and their families at this time.
As soon as the restrictions for Covid19 were announced, we established at Covid19 Cancer Support team and in effect the aim of this team was to move all of our physical services out of our Cancer Support Centre and provide them in a non-contact and Online setting.
These services include:
- Telephone Counselling - To ensure that Cancer patients are supported from their hospital bed or from the comfort for their own home by our team of Counsellors & Psychotherapists.
- Hospital Transport - To ensure that Cancer patients can continue to access their Chemotherapy & Radiotherapy treatments.
- Food Hampers - To ensure that patients don't have to compromise their immune systems by visiting busy supermarkets.
- Remote Classes on Facebook Live and through Zoom - To ensure that patients and family members can still stay connected and take part in our Cancer survivorship programmes.
- Distribution of Purple House Snoods to be used as Face masks - With the shortage of face masks and the need for them to be kept for our doctors & nurses, our snoods make a perfect face mask.
As this is such a worrying and anxious time for everyone, we have seen an increase in the number of people contacting us for help and support.
Our Support Staff, Counsellors, Therapists and Volunteers are working around the clock to ensure that no one is isolated or alone.
We cannot provide our vital services without your support, and with many of our fundraising events cancelled, we would appreciate any support you can give us to help the most vulnerable members of our community.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need our help during this period.
Thank you for your support.
