November is a paramount month for transfeminist movements and organisations in Italy as the 25th is the day dedicated to fighting gender-based violence. Before, during and after the recurrence we witness a concerted effort to leverage the media attention to raise awareness on the topic.
Non Una di Meno, one of the largest feminist movements of the country, organised a national march on November 27th. On a chilly yet sunny Saturday afternoon, over 50.000 people took the streets of Rome to claim our right to feel safe and urge the government and the institutions to act on this widespread social justice and human rights issue.
Thanks to the wealth of knowledge we had built over the years, especially for Project Radia, our project funded through GlobalGiving, Chayn Italia launched a communication campaign focused on raising awareness on tech-enabled abuse, sharing valuable information, and providing actionable points to recognise it and fight it.
We created flyers, stickers and bookmarks to hand out during the 27th of November's march for participants from all parts of Italy to bring back home. We included our contacts and digital accounts so they could find Chayn Italia online and learn more about tech-enabled abuse, our campaign and our work.
Here’s to a new year of fighting gender-based violence!Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
