The COVID-19 pandemic that has spread rapidly and extensively around the world since late 2019 has had profound implications for food security and nutrition.Already, before the outbreak of the pandemic, according to the latest State of Food Security and Nutrition report, some two billion people faced food insecurity at the moderate or severe level. Today, I will share with you the story of Eleonora, one of those two billion people, who cannot afford food for them and their families.
Eleonora is a mother of four. The youngest child, Stilyan, is only 3 months old. Eleonora and her husband are from a very small village in the Northern part of the country. The man is working in adairy farmwithout an employment contract, receiving a minimum salary, Eleonora is at home taking care of their four kids. Without being good in math, we can easily do the calculation and see that such a small amount of money couldn’t be enough for a family of 6.
Unfortunately, her story is rather common then exception. And the worst part is that this story doesn’t get any better. Because of the poor conditions the family is living in, the baby gets COVID-19 and is currently in the hospital. To help, Eleonora, we sent her, packs of infant formula that will be enough for a month, together with a lot of hygiene products and diapers.
This story shows the importance of implementing projects like this one that can react in such urgent situations. Because in the short term, poor nutrition can contribute to stress and tiredness, but over time, it can lead to some serious health problems.
Eleonora, her son and the many others like them need your support, so please don’t let them down. We know there are so many good charities that will seek your help and you should know how honored we are when you choose to make a gift to our cause.
Thank you!
Olya
Dear Friends,
You probably remember our last report when we share with you the exciting news of providing food to 118 pregnant women, teenage moms and their babies. By teaching the moms how to prepare nutritious food for them and their babies with a limited budget, the products lasted for a whole month.
As you can imagine, providing food for so many families in need is very challenging and expensive. And although we want to organize such campigns every month, we keep our expectations realistic. Our goal would be to organize one more campaign by the end of the year.
In September, GlobalGiving is giving us a great chance by matching your donations starting from 09:00:00 ET on Monday, September 13, 2021, to 23:59:59 ET on Friday, September 17, 2021. Donations up to $50 per unique donor per organization will be matched at 50% for the entire five-day campaign. So please support us so we can continue providing food for both mother and baby.
These are uncertain times, and we especially appreciate your generosity and continuous support. Please continue to be our biggest supporters – donate, advocate, share. It means the world to us, the moms and the babies
Stay safe,
Olya
Dear Friends,
We have some exciting news to share. Because of you, 118 pregnant women, teenage moms and their babies will have food on their table for a month.
Adequate nutrition during infancy and early childhood is essential to ensure the growth, health, and development of children to their full potential. And we can’t thank you enough for continue supporting us in such challenging times.
As we did last time, we divided the families in groups and tailored to their special needs and most important the stage of motherhood (pregnancy, baby or toddler), they received an individually prepared food package.
As you can imagine, focusing on emergency help and on providing food for both mother and baby is very challenging especially when trying to support so many families in need. We needed to gather all your donations together with few more from private donors and friend of TSA Foundation to make this happen.
We hope that this campaign will continue inspire and excite you and with your help we will be able to continue providing food for the babies and their moms.
Warm wishes,
Olya
2020 has been a tough year for a lot of people. And this reminds us to be grateful for every single donation you’ve made throughout the year, for every single minute you’ve spent advocating for us by sharing our mission with your family, colleagues and friends. It means the world to us!
You probably remember our last report when we promised to try organizing another food campaign for the 100 families we’ve supported in April. Unfortunately, we couldn’t gather enough money to help all the families we are working with so we will postpone this campaign with another month or two.
Nevertheless, we are still helping women and babies in need, by visiting the mothers and speaking with them about how important breastfeeding is, by teaching them how to prepare nutritious food for them and their babies witha limited budget, etc.
We won’t give up on providing nutritious food to vulnerable kids and young mothers. Please don’t give up either.
Wishing you and your family health, happiness and peace this Christmas and in the coming New Year.
Stay safe.
Olya
Dear Friend,
I would like to take the time to sincerely thank you for your support and trust to The Trust for Social Achievement Foundation. You’ve helped us achieve a lot in only an year. Thanks to you, we managed to provide nutritious food to more than 100 young pregnant women, teenage moms and their babies in need.
As COVID-19 continues to spread, the future has never felt so unpredictable. And although the crises has affected everyone’s lives, without any doubt, the society’s most vulnerable was hit the hardest. Now, more than ever, our community needs us. And we need you.
We haven’t had the chance to organize any food delivery since April because we’ve used almost all the donations we’ve got (only $50 are avaible now). Nevertheless, we are still helping women and babies in need, by sharing our knowledge and experience with colleagues who are organizing such campaigns.
We will continue our efforts in subsidizing the cost of warm baby food and partnering with local kitchens to provide moms and their children with healthy food on a daily basis, but in those challenging times I believe that our focus will stay on the emergency help and on the provision of food for both mother and baby.
In September, GlobalGiving is giving us a great chance by matching your donations starting from 09:00:00 ET on Monday, September 14, 2020, to 23:59:59 ET on Friday, September 18, 2020. Donations up to $50 per unique donor per organization will be matched at 50% for the entire five-day campaign. So please support us so we can fulfil our goal to organize another big food delivery in October.
Thank you again for joining the efforts of the many generous donors in Bulgaria and abroad!
We couldn’t have done this without you.
Stay safe,
Olya
