For the first time in 2021, UpRoot expanded its gleaning initiative into Broomfield County and the agriculturally-prodigious counties of Delta and Larimer bringing the total number of counties where we work to 10. Our goal is to expand our work into nine additional Colorado counties in 2023-2024.
Our Theory of Change document, developed in the fall, will act as the cornerstone to creating a longer-term organizational strategy, a process which we hope to begin in 2022.
We are currently working to transition our workforce pilot initiative into a worker-owned agricultural-services cooperative.
We are researching Right-to-Food legislation (a form of which recently passed into law in Maine), and how it might positively affect our Colorado food system.
We are working to develop a 2022 development strategy.
We are partnering with Metro State University, in Denver, to perform research into cultural food wisdom and its effects on downstream household food waste.
