GABS promotes healthier communities in Botswana through practical education and outreach on health, hygiene, mental wellness, nutrition, healthy lifestyles, substance-abuse prevention, GBV prevention, and physical activity. The project will equip community members with knowledge and practical tools to make healthier daily choices.
Many families and young people in Botswana face health and social challenges that can affect their well-being and future. Non-communicable diseases, unhealthy diets, mental-health concerns, substance abuse, and gender-based violence continue to impact communities. Young people are particularly vulnerable, yet many lack access to practical health information, prevention education, coping skills, and supportive services. Through wellness education and suport communities can make healthier choices.
GABS will conduct community wellness outreach, health and hygiene education, mental-wellness and self-care sessions, nutrition education, physical fitness activities, and prevention campaigns. We will address substance abuse, GBV, NCD prevention, healthy eating, exercise, mental health, and early help-seeking. GABS will work with clinics, schools, community leaders, government structures, NGOs, and other partners to connect communities with reliable information, referrals, services and support.
The project will help community members build practical knowledge and habits that support healthier daily living. Increased awareness of prevention, nutrition, exercise, mental wellness, hygiene, and available services can encourage earlier action and healthier choices. Over time, stronger community participation and partnerships can support healthier, more informed, resilient communities and help individuals and families better manage health and social challenges.
