Imagine being eight years old and, for the first time, having adults truly listen when you speak. That's what happened for hundreds of children across six communities this year, as twelve children's groups gave 273 children — 132 girls, 141 boys — a seat at the table, with 60 stepping into leadership roles for their peers.
Month after month, these children gathered to talk about the things that shape their daily lives: their safety, their right to stay in school, gender equality, child marriage — often for the first time being asked what they think. Teachers and community mobilizers watched children who once hesitated to speak up begin standing before village elders and local officials, representing their peers with growing confidence.
That confidence reached local governance too. Child leaders met with officials from four Gram Panchayats and two Satara Municipal Corporation wards, helping push child protection onto the local agenda and into official development plans. Visits to the Gram Panchayat Office, Police Station, and Primary Health Centre let children see, perhaps for the first time, that these institutions exist to serve them too.
Alongside this, regular sports and play kept joy at the center of the program, and 47 children were recognized for their efforts — small moments of pride that add up to something bigger: a generation learning that their voice matters.
Thank you for helping make that possible.
