Karmirhath Hospital located at North-West Corner of Bangladesh has been serving the people of Gaibandha district since 1986. The main Services offered by the hospital are The Eye Care Services, the Diabetic Care Services, The Pre-Natal Care Services for the Pregnant Mothers, Children Care Services and Dental Care Services.
During the last three months, 3,000 Diabetic patients have been treated at our hospital. Poor Patients from far and near have been attending the hospital for about last decade knowing that some decent people from abroad have been helping poor patients of the hospital
Case Study:
Parvin is about 42 years old. She is a resident of Gaibandha town. Mother of four children, Parvin developed diabetes 7 years ago. Being wife of a day-laborer, she could not arrange fund for treatment. Consequently, she continued to suffer and became weak day by day. About 3 months ago, a social worker brought her to Karmirhath Hospital. She was registered with Diabetic section. She was examined by a doctor, regular routine tests were done, Diabetic Guide Book was given. She started attending hospital every Friday. She was given Insulin regularly free of cost. After about three months' treatment, her diabetes become stabilized. She was asked to attend hospital once in a month.
Due to her continued treatment, her diabetes has stabilized and she is now leading almost a normal life. This has been possible due to generous help of donors through GlobalGiving.
2. Prodeep (not his real name)
A resident of Gaibandha town, prodeep developed diabetes about ten years ago. He is very poor and could not work due to his illness. As it is known to the people of Gaibandha area that there is noble men abroad who regularly help Karmirhath Hospital patients, Mr, Prodeep also came to the hospital for his free treatment. He was admitted in our hospital. Free treatment was given to him for about six months when his diabetes was stabilized. This has been possible due to generous help of donors through GlobalGiving.
