Karmirhath Hospital located at North-West Corner of Bangladesh has been serving the people of Gaibandha district since 1986. The main fields of the hospital are The Eye Care Section, the Diabetc Care Section, The Pre-Natal Care Section of the Pregnant Mothers, Children Care Section and Dental Care Section.
During the last three months, 1200 Diabetic patients have been treated at our hospital.
Case Study:
Fuli(not her real name) is married for 20 years. She has three children – two daughters and a son. She developed Diabetes six years ago. But she could not arrange treatment as she is poor and her husband being a small grocer himself a poor. So, she remained without treatment. Consequently, she suffered and became weak day by day. About two months ago, a social worker brought her to our Karmirhath Hospital and got Fuli registered with Diabetic section. She was examined by a paramedic, regular routine tests were done, Diabetis Guide Book was given and her treatment started. She started attending hospital every Friday. She was given Insulin regularly. After about two months' treatment, her diabetes become stabilised. She was asked to attend hospital once in a month.
Fuli's treatment has stabilized her diabetes and she is now leading almost a normal life. This has been possible due to generous help of donors through GlobalGiving.
