KARMIRHATH HOSPITAL, GAIBANDHA
A total of 320 patients attended our hospital during the last two months; among them 6 were new patients. Necessary tests were conducted, Guide Books given and Diabetes Awareness lessons were also given to the new patients. Insulin as well as other medicines were given free to Chronic Patients.
Case Study:
Rubina Khatun aged 35 years, lives near Balashi Ghat about15 km away from Karmirhath Hospital. Her husband is a poor agriculture labor They have three kids. The kids are all school-going.
Rubina developed diabetes a few years ago. Her husband could not manage any treatment for her illness. He did not dare take her to any doctor apprehending that it would be a very costly treatment!
A few months ago he learnt about Karmirhath hospital gives free treatment to poor diabetic patients. When Rubina reached our hospital, after a few tests, she was registered as a diabetic patient, given Guide Book and awareness instructions. She is now a regular visitor and her diabetes is now stabilized. She thanks Karmirhath and those who helps Karmirhath with funds.
2. Badsha Mondol: (not his real name)
Badsha Mondol is 55 years old. He is a day labor. He developed diabetes about 20 years ago. Being poor and having no awareness about his disease, he hardly tried for treatment. Day by day he became too week to move. One day, a kind-hearted person brought him to Karmirhath hospital. There was none to look after him. Along with his treatment for diabetes, he was given other daily necessities. He is given insulin and other necessary medicines free. He visits the hospital regularly. His diabetes has now stabilized. He is thankful to Karmirhath and the overseas donors.
