PROJECT REPORT
October 09, 2012.
On September 19, 2012 a camp for screening Diabetic and Cataract patients was held at Sadullahpur Upo-Zilla which is about 15 km from Gaibandha town. Before holding the camp, wide publicity was given so that more and more people attend the camp.
An Awareness Program on Diabetic as well as on Eye Care was held at the Upo-Zilla Head Quarter on September 09, 2012. Speakers consisted of Diabetic Specialists, Eye Specialists and Prominent Social Workers. About 4000 people attended the Program.
About 300 people attended the Diabetic and Cataract Screening Camp held on September 19. 20 were detected having diabetes. These patients attended our hospital on September 25, 2012. Necessary tests were conducted, Guide Books given and Diabetes Awareness lessons were also given to them.
Case of Rozina: Rozina Begum 45, wife of Idris Ali lives in a village named Mithapukur about 50 kilometer from Gaibandha town. She is very poor and has been suffering from diabetes for the last 12 years. Her husband is a very poor person and could not afford treatment that was available about 75 kilometer away. Having deprived of treatment and proper diet, Rozina became physically handicapped and was unable to walk. She used to move around riding on the back of her husband. Knowing the plight of poor Rozina, she was brought to Karmirhath Hospital for treatment of her diabetes.
First of all, she was given a wheelchair, free of cost, from our another program, ‘Free Distribution of Wheelchairs to Poor Disabled People’ sponsored by US Based “Free Wheelchair Mission”.
She was admitted to the hospital and kept under constant observation for three weeks.
All necessary tests were conducted. Medicines were provided free of costs. She now visits the hospital every fortnight.
Rozina Begum is now very grateful to Karmirhath and GlobalGiving for arranging her free treatment. Pictures of Rozina Begum are attached.
