During the last three months about 2,000 diabetic patients attended our Diabetic center. Of them, about 500 are new patients!
Diabetes is taking a serious turn in this part of Bangladesh, as number of new patients is increasing every week. The area is one of the very poor districts of Bangladesh, located at the north-west corner of the country. Treatment of diabetes is costly. Since diabetic patients are given subsidized treatment at our hospital, we have to face a large number of patients.
We are organizing camps in remote rural areas to screen diabetic patients. The detected patients are brought to our hospital for proper diagnosis and enrolled as our regular patients. Then treatment is given on a regular basis.
