Help Train 50 Women Community Paralegal
Progress Report - 25 February 2019
Inherit Yours Rights was honored by your support of our work to build sustainable grassroots change in our region, addressing the abuse and discrimination of women and girls through the training of women to become human and legal rights advocates. We achieved almost half of the target amount of $5000 to train 50 female paralegals. Thank you!
Your donation enables 20 women become Inherit Your Rights Community Paralegals over the next three months.
In early February we met a great group of women from Sakina in Arusha who are keen to become ‘barefoot lawyers’ in their communities.
These women, aged 25 – 40 years, had previously formed and registered as a collective under the name of Pamoja to support each other with loans to individually establish and run micro-businesses. (Our experience has shown that human and legal rights awareness is an important foundation to micro-business training as it better positions women to protect the income they generate through their businesses).
The first session with Pamoja was held last week and our trainer Winnie said they are an enthusiastic and engaged group, we look forward to working with them each week as they go through the ten-week program.

Asante sana!
