Project: Feeding Orphaned and Underprivileged Baloch Children
Implemented by: Balochistan Rural Development Program (BRDP)
Project Lead: Mehmood Rind Baloch, Program Manager
Fundraising Platform: GlobalGiving
Target Amount: USD 35,000
Total Funds Raised to Date: USD 2,357
Reporting Period: Up to May 2025
Background and Rationale
Chronic poverty, unemployment, and inflation have left thousands of children across Balochistan struggling for daily meals. Orphaned children and those belonging to extremely poor households are among the most affected. In many cases, families are forced to choose between basic necessities, leaving children vulnerable to hunger, malnutrition, and long-term health risks.
Recognizing this silent emergency, BRDP initiated the “Help to Feed the Orphan and Poor Baloch Children” project to provide immediate food assistance while preserving dignity and hope for children who are often overlooked.
Financial Progress and Donor Support
Through the continued trust and compassion of donors, the project has so far raised USD 2,357. All contributions are securely maintained in BRDP’s official account and are utilized strictly for food procurement and distribution-related activities.
Although the current amount represents an early stage compared to the overall goal, it has already enabled meaningful intervention for some of the most vulnerable children.
Program Implementation and Outcomes
With the funds received to date, BRDP has successfully:
Identified and verified orphaned and extremely poor children through community networks and field assessments.
Distributed food packages containing essential staples such as flour, rice, pulses, cooking oil, milk, sugar, and basic nutrition items.
Provided short-term food security to over 60 children, reducing immediate hunger and stress within their households.
Ensured transparent distribution through local volunteers and monitoring staff.
These interventions have not only addressed hunger but also restored a sense of care and dignity among families who often feel abandoned.
Field Reflections
Feedback from caregivers highlights the impact of this support. One guardian shared that the assistance helped them overcome weeks of uncertainty and allowed them to focus again on their children’s well-being rather than daily survival. Such responses reaffirm the importance of timely food assistance in crisis-affected communities.
Key Challenges
Despite progress, several challenges persist:
Rapidly increasing food prices limit the number of families that can be supported.
Vast distances and difficult terrain increase transportation costs and delivery time.
Demand far exceeds available resources, leaving many deserving children on waiting lists.
These realities underline the urgent need for sustained and expanded support.
Future Direction
As fundraising continues, BRDP aims to:
Extend food assistance to additional high-need districts including Awaran, Washuk, Dera Bugti, and Kharan.
Introduce more regular food support for the most vulnerable families, subject to funding availability.
Strengthen local partnerships to improve identification and outreach to hidden and marginalized households.
Maintain accountability and transparent reporting to donors and stakeholders.
Closing Appeal
The progress achieved so far would not have been possible without donor generosity. Each contribution has translated into meals, relief, and reassurance for children who face hunger every day.
We respectfully invite continued support for this initiative. By sharing this project and contributing whenever possible, donors help ensure that no child is left to face hunger alone. Together, we can continue turning compassion into action and help secure a healthier, more hopeful future for Balochistan’s children.
