Introduction:

The Balochistan Rural Development Program (BRDP) launched the “Help to Feed the Orphan and Poor Baloch Children” project to provide essential food support to underprivileged children in the poverty-stricken province of Balochistan. The initiative is aimed at improving the nutrition and overall wellbeing of orphaned and destitute children who often face hunger and malnutrition due to extreme poverty and lack of social safety nets.

Progress Overview:

As of May 2025, we have successfully raised $2,296 through generous donations on the GlobalGiving platform. Although this amount represents a small fraction of our overall goal of $35,000, it has already allowed us to make a meaningful impact on the lives of several extremely poor children across the region.

Activities and Achievements:

With the funds raised so far, BRDP has:

• Procured essential food items including flour, rice, lentils, cooking oil, sugar, tea, milk, and other non-perishable goods.
• Identified and verified families of orphan and poor children through our field teams and community mobilizers in various districts of Balochistan.
• Packaged and distributed nutritional food baskets to needy households, focusing on areas with high vulnerability.
• Successfully reached and supported more than 60 orphaned and extremely poor children with food items sufficient for several weeks.
• Photographs and testimonials from beneficiaries are being documented and will be shared through our GlobalGiving updates to ensure transparency and to honor the trust of our donors.

Challenges:

• The demand for food support far exceeds the current available resources.
• Rising inflation and food prices have increased the cost of procurement, making it difficult to cover a wider population.
• Difficult terrain and remote locations pose logistical challenges in reaching some of the most in-need children.

 Next Steps:

• Continue fundraising efforts to reach our target of $35,000.
• Expand outreach and distribution in under-served districts like Awaran, Washuk, Dera Bugti, and Kharan.
• Strengthen partnerships with local volunteers, religious leaders, and school administrators to identify more children in urgent need.
• Introduce regular monthly or quarterly food support to selected families once sustained funding is available.
