On the 8th of November 2013, Super typhoon Yolanda (internationally known as Haiyan), with its strong winds and heavy rains, hit the Philippines, Friday morning. The said typhoon that passed by the heart of the country (the Central Visayas area) left behind vast destruction of properties and infrastructures, thousands of homeless families and claimed a number of lives.
Upon the news of the devastation brought about by Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda), volunteers and concerned individuals immediately rushed to the nearest CJFI centers to give their donations and personally help in the repacking of relief goods for the distressed Filipino survivors.
Thousands of CJFI volunteers readily presented themselves to help. Students, teachers, parents, school officials and even employees in Davao City gathered at the Jose Maria College lobby for the repacking of relief goods for the survivors. In Manila, CJFI volunteers participated in the repacking of goods, day in and day out, not minding the lack of sleep and thinking only of those who are in desperate need.
The CJFI volunteers’ only wish is that these goods will reach those in need as soon as possible and will give them hope for a new tomorrow.
