By Priya | Rescue Project Director
Namaste from India.
This is Priya, Rescue Project Director the centre which runs our anti child trafficking and anti-child labour programmes. Once again, I would like to thank you so much for your help and support which has helped and is helping so many children.
Our approach is multi-pronged, prevention, legal action against traffickers and working closely with other law enforcement agencies, individual child support and rehabilitation in the local community.
Regarding the latter this often means providing and tracking missing Birth Certificates, access to government help and education and training. Helping the children get national ID all of which will help them going forward in life.
Here is what Pankaj (age 12) had to say,
“Rescue Junction and the anti-trafficking team have saved me, I was taken from the arms of traffickers at the station by the team, just as I was being sent to work to a factory making glass bangles many thousands of kilometres away. When I got to Rescue Junction other children who had been rescued from other factories told me how they were beaten, made to work up to 18 hours a day and had no way of reaching out for help or to their families. I am so grateful to People First, Rescue Junction and the team that saved me and I would like to thank everyone who has helped us including those who help to fund the programme”.
The above was translated from Hindi but has not been changed in any other way
Every penny donated on this appeal goes to our anti child labour and trafficking programmes.
The average cost of rescuing one child is $1000.
However ANY donation large or small is very much appreciated and will go directly to maintain and improve this very important part of our work and I send my gratitude to you,
Priya
