Thanks to You We Met the Global Giving Challenge

By Karen L. Hanscom | Executive Director

E is a young man from Rwanda. He always expresses amazement that our donors are helping total strangers. "Yes, I get a lot of help from ASTT, but it is more than just help or things -- it is the chance to rebuild my life. I needed a place to live, I was homeless. ASTT found a place for me in December. They helped me find my first medical doctor in this country and get medicine. I saw an ASTT psychologist so I could get treatment in December also. I needed transport money so I could come for my appointments. All of this I got from ASTT. I would just like to say thank you and ask that the support continue for those that will come to ASTT after me." E is one of many clients who were helped with your generous donation.

The holiday season can be a difficult time for those we help, especially because of being separated from loved ones and family. It is a time when ASTT steps in and offers much needed help. Your support during the Global Giving Challenge made a real difference in dozens of lives and enabled us to find services for people just like E (whose name is not provided for his safety).  Thanks to you, we met the challenge and will now be permanent members of the Global Giving site, making ASTT eligible for future additional funding and challenges. We had 49 donors who generously gave $5,077 to help us meet the challenge.

Many of you are already familiar with our mission and know how we do what we do. Your dollars go directly to helping people in need and we are grateful for them. For those of you who are new to the ASTT family, we invite you to follow our Facebook page @asttorg on Twitter and our page on LinkedIn. Stay tuned to our web site at www.astt.org to stay informed about ASTT happenings and witness first hand the amazing transformations that we are priveleged to see here every day.
