By Andrew Mullens | Kimbilio Support
Thank you very much for your financial donations the Kimbilio Project - 'Help Street Girls in DR Congo'. This has enabled us to provide effective support to girls who find themselves living on the streets in Lubumbashi.
At the present time, we see an average of nine girls coming to the Day Centre when it is open and we provide showers, washing facilities for their clothes, food, shelter and an opportunity to talk about how they came to be living on the streets. We have been able to reintegrate fourteen girls this year into their wider families and we have given temporary homes to fourteen of the girls while we contact their families to arrange a return and longer-term accommodation to twelve girls whose reintegration will take a longer time. Many of the girls receive education at the new Kimbilio school, so they don't fall behind other children in learning.
The streets are not a safe place for girls to live and the Kimbilio team in Lubumbashi take action to protect them from harm and to give them a better future.
