Recently in New Delhi, two HOPE diabetes educators conducted a training for staff members of a global health organization on Diabetes & Hypertension management. Through the training, participants learned about onset delay strategies and specifically how diet can play a role at different levels of disease prevention.
Overall, 13 staff members went through the training and completed a pre and post-test questionnaire on the relationship between nutrition and diet to diabetes and hypertension. At the end of the program, the percentage of participants who could answer all of the questions correctly improved from 62 percent to 92 percent.
In addition to conducting training workshops on diabetes, Project HOPE staff in India are preparing to publish a manual on Noncommunicable Diseases that will further strengthen its outreach and education efforts.
This work is made possible because of you! We’re grateful for your ongoing support and will continue to keep you informed as HOPE staff and trainers work to educate and improve awareness on the risk factors, treatment, and management of diabetes in India.
