Saru is a diabetes educator at the Sitaram Bhartia Hospital in Delhi who attended the first diabetes education Master Trainer course led by Project HOPE. Becoming a Master Trainer has prepared Saru to train and instruct other diabetes educators as part of a long-term strategy to increase diabetes education and awareness throughout India.
“Attending the course was a real pleasure as it lead to self-assessment and a plan for improvement,” she said. Since the course, Saru has helped train more than seven groups of diabetes educators, putting new principals of diabetes care into practice. “I am now meeting with the diabetes educators to ensure that the patients’ concerns are addressed first,” she said. “There are lots of changes that we will make in our training program as a result of this course.”
Thanks to your generous support, more trainers like Saru will be able to join the cause to prevent and improve the treatment and management of diabetes in India.
