Progress at TVW
TVW recently received a grant from the Oregon International Airshow for $1000.00 to be used toward the men’s restroom remodel.
$8500.00 remains to be raised toward the goal of $23,000. New restrooms will feature ADA upgrades to help our clients become more independent and self-sufficient.
Community outings are on the rise! TVW is partnering with local agencies to volunteer and learn job skills, as well as learn more about businesses for potential jobs in the community. Partnerships with local police, libraries, schools, businesses, county and local government are happening daily with the recent new hire of a Community Inclusion Specialist, who will be taking groups of 3 out every day twice a day to local locations. The addition of a volunteer will ensure that everyone gets a chance to go out in the community each month.
TVW will host a Community Forum on October 28th from 3:00-5:00PM at 6615 SE Alexander Hillsboro, OR 97123.
The purpose of the forum is to learn about the proposed settlement (Lane vs. Brown) from the plaintiffs and defendants and hear what it means to youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. The event is presented by Disability Rights Oregon OCDD Oregon Self Advocacy and DHS.
The public is invited to attend.
Sincerely,
