Things have been hopping in the Job Development Department.
There have been many new community partnerships formed, and several job placements in the community.
The process to help a person find a career path is called Discovery. It boils down to what makes a person tick? Are they independent, or like people, or love cars? Throughout Discovery, meetings with family and frends of the person with a disability help to start to identify the unique gifts they will bring to the workplace.
Work assessment tests are also given. At the end of the Discovery process, there are three employment themes identified.
The next step is Job Development. Individuals are taken on jobsite tours, perform job shadows, and informational tours.
Areas of improvement are targeted and improved upon through tutoring.
Next, a job is found! TVW provides job coaching to the individual to ensure a good fit. As the individual becomes more proficient at the job, the coach begins to step back and let the individual perform the tasks. Eventually the job coasch is not longer needed.
Enjoy the pictures of some of the community placements! Thank you for your continued support of adults with disabilities at TVW.
