Our solution - the Till App - is a free, SMS-based tool that eliminates corrupt middlemen and connects farmers directly to buyers. Farmers who use the app can suddenly pay for school fees, medicine and they can protect their beloved farmland from outside threats.
Without cash, small-scale farmers cannot cover essentials like healthcare or education for their families. The reason? They can't sell enough produce to make it worth their while to haul it to market. Instead, they trade with neighbors or sell what they can to passing motorists. Remaining produce is plowed back into the soil. They are stuck in a cycle that leaves them vulnerable to losing or selling their land to big industrial farms or real estate developers.
