Hello Friends of IA!
We want to let you know about Global Giving's Matching Bonus Day coming up next week on May 13th, when Global Giving will match all donations to Set kids free from trauma of sexual/physical abuse - Project #17205!
For the first-time, all donations up to $1,000 per donor per project made on Bonus Day will be matched by Global Giving! Read the complete terms and conditions here. Please consider giving whatever you are able between 8am and 10:59pm Central Standard Time or 9am and 11:59pm Eastern Daylight Time and please tell your friends, coworkers and family members what a great opportunity this is to give!
Remember, any amount will help and be amplified by Global Giving for the whole day! GG has $75,000 to give away in matching dollars, so please help IA get a good chunk of that!
We held our 2015 Legacy of Leadership Golf Classic on Monday, May 4th and will notify all our golfers and sponsors of this Global Giving matching opportunity as well! The event was a great success, raising almost half of the 2015 $60,000 match required by our grant from the Criminal Justice Division of the State of Texas, Office of the Governor and we honored Thomas Blinsko as our 2015 Legacy of Leadership Award winner for his support of so very many nonprofit agencies in the Bay Area of Houston! Thomas is a model of someone willing to help individuals and families, as well as organizations with significant ministries to those in need. Our Legacy of Leadership Award goes to a local unsung hero who makes a significant difference through their support and/or volunteer efforts to local nonprofit agencies.
Other news is that we presented our Victim Assistance Program grant for an increase of 61% for the coming grant year, from $240,000 to $617,390 and it was very favorably received by the Houston-Galveston Area Council of Government Priority Hearing Board! We should receive our score and know if the expansion is funded sometime in June and you will be the first to know if the new funding will begin to flow on September 1, 2015!
Thanks for your partnership with our agency and our mission to help child victims of horrendous crimes transition from victims to survivors to victors in life and especially over the symptoms that would otherwise impair their functioning and plaque them emotionally for years if left untreated!
