Our WEEMA International midwife students, Mirhet and Selam, continue to thrive at Hamin College. They will be finishing up their second year this June.
Tewodros, our WEEMA in-country director reports, "Selam assisted at four normal deliveries so far with only one more needed to reach the expected number at her level. She has provided nursing care for many patients including those who have suffered a stroke. Mirhet has assisted at five deliveries and is able to attend normal deliveries independently." We are so proud!
The government is finalizing construction at the district hospital where Selam and Mirhet will serve as leaders in maternity care. In addition to providing excellent clinical care, Selam and Mirhet will teach and supervise local health center staff on safe obstetrical practices.
The attached photo shows workers busy at newly built hospital.
We thank you for your generosity. Please consider making another contribution to support Mirhet and Selam's education. Together we will save lives of moms and babies!
Sincerely,
Liz McGovern
