First we want to thank you for your generous support of our GlobalGiving open challenge. Because of you, WEEMA International is now a permanent member of the GlobalGiving community. In fact, a GlobalGiving representantive is scheduled to visit our Hamlin College midwive students on October 9th. Can't wait to hear her impressions! We know she'll love these students as much as we do.
Mihret and Selam returned to Hamlin College of Midwives on September 14th to start their second year. After 8 weeks at home with their families in Mudula, they were eager to get back to Addis to resume their studies.
Mihret and Selam are joined by their fellow Tembaro district students, Hiwot and Sinidu, as well as two new students from the adjacent district of Hadero Tunto. WEEMA International's country representative, Teddy Belachew, organized a welcoming gathering for these new students. These new students truly appreciate this opportunity and expressed heartfelt gratitude. They shared that becoming health professionals has been their dream since childhood. Mirhet and Selam told these students that they support them in their transition to college. Please see the attached photos from the welcoming (Mihret in blue, Selam not in picture.)
WEEMA International's founding director, Liz McGovern, will be in Ethiopia this November. She will visit Selam and Mihret at Hamlin College and will take lots of photos to share with this very generous GlobalGiving community.
