We have recently received some wonderful donations to help us keep our wildlife work.
As many of you may already know In late Novemeber December the SRI rescue team was involved in the rescue of a snared female Sumatran Tiger.
Unfortunately her foot had been in the snare with the blood supply to the foot blocked for such an extended period that all the tissue was dead and became infected so that the foot had to be amputated. What will happen to her in the future is difficult to know as now of course she is an amputee. Unfortunately there are many other tigers in the same condition and although SRI is not responsible for her care it is a very expensive process to provide care for her.
The confiscated gibbons continue to thrive and everyone is working very hard to find a suitable location for their rehabilitation. I have been very lucky to visit the javan Gibbon Centre and with help from many others including the ASTI foundation we have many ideas to build a rehabilitation and wildlife Rescue Centre but will have to wait until we have funding for this project.
There have been more extensions to the gibbon enclosures with the help of some overseas volunteers and at the moment the eagle is in a much larger enclosure but still not really big enough for flying excercises. Hopefully there will be a suitable release location soon and with the support of a feeding platform he /she will be able to have a soft release - not too close to fish ponds.
There is always a lot to do and never enough money - sound familiar ! but every donation however large or small is fantastic.
Thankyou again to our wonderful donors and volunteer helpers
