Dear Donor,
As always, we want to thank you, the donor, Global Giving Grants, and the assistance from volunteers who have traveled to Nepal to work with Govinda.
This is Govindas recollection of the earthquake.
Everything suddenly was shaking so strongly and loudly when we just started having lunch. Everyone was screaming and running to a safe place in the garden but the earth kept shaking. We can hear people screaming and running out of buildings, birds were flying, and buildings are failing down. It was even hard to stand so we sat down on the ground and held the grass very tightly. Then after it gradually stopped and the aftershocks were less………more then 10000 of our people died and there were lots of injuries. We lost our beloved house but luckily we are safe and sound.
Gradually we are rebuilding the farm and thouse an plan a raining centre. We have been already receiving some funds to rebuild the farm from Village Volunteers. through the kind support of friends and Global Giving Some of the funds we already spent for the temporary hut where we live now. At the moment we are in the monsoon season in Nepal so we are waiting for it to stop to work on the rebuiild. During this time we are looking for different types of construction for an earthquake resistant house and researching better material,
By November, we will need a lot of help. If you want to volunteer to help Mountain View Eco Farm, please contact info@villagevolunteers.org or apply online at https://www.villagevolunteers.org - Govinda
While Govinda and his family lost their home and several farm buildings from the earthquake, they are not deterred from their original goal to build a training hall to teach during monsoons and other times, a hostel to offer school kids and farmers housing while teaching them about organic farming, sustainable lifestyle, climate change, and awareness of plastic use and waste etc. Govinda's personal goal is to show youth that being an organic farmer and an environmental advocate is a proud profession. That pot of gold youth seem to want is simply in the soil.
