Shanta raised $42,000 from our network outside of GlobalGiving. $30,000 has been sent tto ur team in Myanmar and allocated as such:
50% or $15,000 went to Myauk Hti Bwar North and South village's reconstruction of 28 houses. These are Shanta partner villages.
40% or $12,000 went to the reconstruction of at least 15 houses in Inle Lake Village. This is a neighboring region that suffered extreme loss. We do not work in Inle Lake but felt the need to support reconstruction due to the devestation.
10% or $3,000 went to supporting two staff houses damaged that suffered great damage.
The remaining $12,000 is being held until we receive a proposal for the construction of a new primary school in a graduate village. Staying true to our model of community-led development, the proposal will include monetary and labor contributions from the community. It is currently the rainy season in Myanmar, so we expect a proposal by October.
The active reconstruction projects can take up to 6 months to complete so we will update with photos upon completion.
In addition, GlobalGiving awarded Shanta Foundation, DBA Shanta Village Partners, $15,000 in response to our work in Myanmar to held rebuild these resilient communties. Thank you, GlobalGiving!
