![]()
Hello,
We are happy to share some good news with you, and the work Humane Canada is doing to improve the lives of companion animals from coast-to-coast.
We're thrilled to have awarded $40,000 through our National Pet Food Bank Grant to 8 incredible organizations making pet food more accessible:

ARF Alberta - Animal Rescue Foundation

BC SPCA (BCSPCA)

Mathias Colomb Cree Nation

Paws for Hope Animal Foundation

Southwest Coast SPCA

Société protectrice des animaux de l'Estrie

City of Oshawa - Municipal Government

West End Resource Centre
This funding will help ensure more animals can stay where they belong: with the people who love them. Congratulations to this year’s grant recipients! You can explore our National Pet Food Bank Map here:

To support their vital work helping animals during this summer’s devastating wildfires, Humane Canada has awarded $18,000 in Canadian Disaster Relief Grants to Whistler Animals Galore (WAG), BC SPCA and the Canadian Disaster Animal Response Team (CDART).
Thanks to the support of Pedigree Foundation, these grants will help support their work caring for animals affected by the wildfires, including emergency shelter, food, veterinary care, transportation and other urgent needs.
We are extremely grateful to WAG, BC SPCA and CDART, and to every other animal welfare organization, responder, volunteer and community partner who stepped up to help animals affected by the wildfires.
Humane Canada is proud to introduce a new Animal Shelter Operations certificate on our Learning & Resource Centre. This course will develop operational knowledge to help shelter professionals understand, manage and improve shelter systems, population flow, teams and organizational performance. A strong shelter depends on the systems connecting animals, people, processes and resources. This certificate will do just that, and we are proud to offer this educational opportunity, along with others, on our Learning & Resource Centre, to help both companion animals and the people who care for them.
Finally, we are happy to announce that Meg Krueger has been appointed as Humane Canada’s next Chief Executive Officer, as of October 26, 2026. Meg is a collaborative and values-driven leader with extensive experience leading national organizations and advancing animal welfare through policy, education, partnerships, and strategic growth. Meg has dedicated much of her career to improving the welfare of animals and strengthening the organizations that serve them.
Thank you for your continued support and kindness to animals.
