Too many horses spend their youth carrying riders, winning ribbons, teaching children, and serving their owners—only to become unwanted when they can no longer be ridden. Horses are not toys to be discarded when they no longer meet someone's needs.
Today, we are facing a crisis of elderly horses.
Right now, 22 horses in our care are age 20 or older, making up nearly one-third of our herd. Most were once highly valued horses. Today, they wait an average of two years for adoption, largely because they are no longer rideable.
We wish we could help every senior horse, but we are not a sanctuary. We must keep space available for neglected and abused horses coming from law enforcement and emergency situations. That means finding loving homes that appreciate the companionship, wisdom, and gentle nature these golden oldies still have to offer.
To everyone who donates and supports our mission: thank you. Your generosity makes it possible for us to provide the care, comfort, and second chances that senior horses so desperately need.
