During the lockdowns, when most of the services had almost stopped, many facilities available for the people including transportation and health facilities had been affected with severe implications on the rural poor people especially the senior citizens, pregnant and lactating mothers, children, adolescent girls and people with pre-existing medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, PLHIV) who are more likely becoming severely ill with this virus.
In order to provide primary healthcare services to people living in rural and under-served areas mainly with the objective of taking healthcare service delivery to the doorsteps of the underprivileged people, PRIDE India’s fully equipped Mobile Medical Units continued its preventive and curative health program and has gone beyond their regular services by screening and testing patients and migrants returning to their village and also by sensitizing the local communities about COVID-19 and ways to prevent oneself from this virus.
The MMU, which is a mechanism to provide its outreach services in the rural and remote areas has reached out to the neediest patients during this period.
