One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.
At Save The Children India, we constantly strive to provide the best interventions to the children with special needs that includes education, therapeutic intervention and vocational skills. but it all starts with a nutritious meal.
Save The Children India runs a school for children with special needs in Mumbai, India. The school is attended by 250 children with special needs especially those who are hearing and speech impaired and intellectually challenged. These children largely come from under severed communities, stay in urban slums and these are the families living in absolute poverty.
The families do not have required means to educate children and providing opportunities for a child with special needs is beyond their reach.
Save The Children India is grateful to individual donors who have contributed wholeheartedly to the cause and helped us put food on the plates for these children.
Thank you

Nutrition disorders and compromised nutritional status are common among children with special needs. The data shows that 40% of infants and children with special needs are at nutritional risk . A well nourished child has increased alertness and stamina to participate in therapies, educational activities, and social interactions and benefits from fewer illnesses and improved coping skills. Improved nutritional status and feeding skills add to the level of independence the child is able to achieve. Additionally it can improve child’s perception of self and the caregivers’ perceptions of their abilities to meet the child’s needs.
Save The Children India pays attention to the daily requirement of nutrition for beneficiaries on campus that includes 250 children with special needs. Save The Children India’s organisational complex in BKC houses a fully functional kitchen to provide breakfast and a mid-day meal to all the children. The menu is planned every month in consultation with Nutritionist and the food every day includes milk with nutritional mix / biscuits/ fruits for breakfast and Roti, Vegetable, Dal, Rice and Salad for Lunch (sweets during festive days). The facility also offers seasonal fruits and non-veg food occasionally. The team of caretakers, canteen staff and teachers personally assist the children who have difficulty to eat on their own. All children attending school are residing in slum areas especially whose parents are daily wage earners and lack required means to provide nutritional and health care for children.
The food provided at the canteen is great support to the family and the child as for most of the children it’s the only wholesome meal they have during the day. The intervention is very critical however the organization does not have a dedicated support to this imperative intervention. It’s a food that makes them active and energetic in everything that they do, study, sports and extracurricular.
Thank you for being with us and we look forward to your continued suport.

Dear Friend of Save The Children India
Summer vacation is over and our beloved kids are here again. The empty classrooms are now filled with laughter and happiness and we are now all set to begin the new academic year - a new chapter in the children's lives. You have been with us and supported us to be able to provide children with nutritious meal to children on every single day that they attend school.
This year too we are striving to ensure that the children enjoy best health and so are able to learn and grow academically as well. Your support is extremely critical to us in the journey of empowering children.
Thank you
