Since our latest update on our Community Learning Center (CLC), there are not many changes to our English classes. But there were some good outcomes in the advanced English class.
The advanced English classes teacher, Yun from South Korea has been teaching two high school students who live nearby DEPDC's Half Day School (HDS) and their English skills have improved remarkably. The students in the advanced English class have learnt an intermediate level of English with practical reading and listening materials, interactive exercises, and various relative tasks. One of the student, Polly said the following about his classes: “This class was a huge challenge for me at the beginning. My English teacher, Yun chose a more difficult level of English text book and he gave us a lot of tasks and homework every weekend. At first I was desperate and could not digest it at all. But thanks to my teacher’s dedication, work and guidance, I got used to his way of teaching and I can understand the assignments with much less effort. After a few lessons I suddenly recognized how much my English improved. Now I am really enjoying my class and I’m happy to learn English”
Yun explained the reason why he decided to choose a more advanced level of English. “During my class, I recognized that here Thai students tend to be content with the status quo and are afraid to do something difficult or more challenging subjects. Such students settle for the same level and they would not take the effort to improve themselves. I believe that our Community Learning Center (CLC) not only provides opportunities to learn English for underprivileged youth, but also help develop their motivation, self-worth, self-confidence and discipline all within this language education program. Hence, I chose a more difficult level of English for our students, so they can get more motivation and improve their self-esteem.”
The fundamental reason for this project is to provide educational opportunities for the youth and give them the tools to improve their own situation in life. With as end goal eradicate human trafficking in this generation forever. However, it is not possible without your generous support and donation. Thanks to all our current, future, and past donors, we are able to offer education to those who desperately need it.
