By Yun Kwansub | Director of Projects
Since our latest update on our Community Learning Center (CLC), our new teacher Yun from South Korea has fully developed a close relationship with his students. He is taking over the advanced English classes every Tuesdays to Thursdays. He has told us a bit about his motivation to participate in the CLC: “It is my pleasure to join this amazing project as an English teacher. I have always believed that education is the fundamental key to change the world into a better place and English is a breakthrough to see the wider world. I make fun, enjoy lessons and in order to get my students talk I use the right blend of language, motivation, and opportunity.”
Although advanced English classes have had only 2 students since last month, we are looking forward to meet our new students next year. English beginner classes have around 20 primary and secondary school students from nearby villages around DEPDC. The beginner class teacher, Hkawn Mai says: “All students in the CLC English classes are not able to take private English lessons due to expensive tuition fees. Despite the fact a few students have started to learn English later than the others, they are eager to learn how to read and write English. I have never felt tired and I feel fulfilled whenever I teach them English.”
Our Community Learning Center (CLC) provides English language education program to underprivileged youth, which is supplemented by programs focusing on motivation, self worth, self confidence and discipline. Also, all teachers in CLC expect that this provides opportunities for youth to improve their own situation in life.
Thanks to the generosity and support of all our past, current and future Global Giving donors, all Community Learning Centre classes are able to be organized and prove valuable chances for members of a community. On behalf of all of teachers and students, we would like to humbly thank you for your support which helps maintain this important project. We invite you to visit the DEPDC blog to read recent updates and information about the Community Learning Centre and other DEPDC projects.
