Child Rights discourses in pandemic period

A sample announcement of programmes

We are all in a state of emergency. Although as of now the situation is slowly limping back to the new normalcy (!) the fear of infection and its deadly effect continues.

As you are aware, most of the establishments were closed from March end onwards. But most NGOs did not. We all dared to take the call to support the needy. Most NGOs took various responsibilities to tackle the problems faced by the communities. We at CRT joined hands with the Govt and other NGOs in Bengaluru to be part of the larger link in providing relief measures to the needy.

Secondly we took the responsibility of preparing covid-19 awareness material in locla language - audio, video and posters in Kannada, our state language and distributed them widely.

Along with it we took to webinars and in the last three months have conducted 13 programmes on various issues centered around child rights and Covid-19. The programmes started with 'parenting during pandemic' and covered issues related to nutrition, health, anti trafficking, maternal mortality, missing children, prevention of child marriages and child abuse, etc.

While the reosource persons were drawn from all over the state, the participants too are from across the state. In each progrmmme around 50 to 100 participants took part direclty and around 300+ have seen each programmes/speech over the facebook link.

GlobalGiving is acknowledged in every programme for the continued support.

Have we conquered Corona/Covid-19? Are we back to normalcy? Will all children get back to schools, playgrounds and their recreation... we are not sure! The actual picture is not yet in sight. We are not sure what is in store in the coming days and after the lockdown is completely lifted.  We do not know how many children will be pushed into labour, trafficked or forced to get married at a very early age. We are not sure about how many children will come back to schools when the schools are reopened shortly.

There is a requirement to take up special drives to conduct community awareness to uphold rights of the children, to educate the masses not to exploit children and to take up measures to protect every child and continue support to the field workers. First to appreciate the frontline field workers who braved Covid-19 pandemic and then provide them the necessary information and capacities to go further to up take the next assignment to be on vigil and protect the interests of the children.

For this, we need your continued support.

Like most of the NGOs we are also facing financial crunch. The funding sources are shrinking. Your support means a lot to us.

We had approached you all an year ago with the intention of training personnel. We completed that task and continued the mission with new plans and programmes. We received the last support from GlobalGiving about six months ago. Since then we are waiting to receive your support to CRT.

Looking forward for your encouragement and support.

With regards,
