Reaching out to new areas to uphold CR

By Vasudeva Sharma N.V. | Executive Director

Completing a year with 12 programmes on creating child rights awareness among grassroots level workers is a rich experience. We could reach out to more than 400 people in the given time while crossing our own target. Thanks to the generous donors and the fund-raising platform GlobalGiving and ImpactGuru.

In the reporting period CRT conducted programmes concentrating on SDGs-Sustainable Development Goals from Child Rights Perspective. We invested time in understanding the concepts and also discussing with the concerned about how and why we can reach them out to various stakeholders. In this regard we had extensive discussion with the SDG Cell of Government of Karnataka and other NGOs in the field.

We got a big boost from GlobalGiving in the form of visit by GG representative Mr. Piush Narang, India Field Traveller 2019. Our preparation for GG representative gave the dividends! We could make an elaborate presentation to Mr. Piush about the ideas, the interventions, workshops, trainings and the outcome. The best part of the whole discussion is that Mr. Piush was attentive and heard us fully and gave his appreciations. The visit by GG representative is a big boost to us in several forms: there is somebody who is wanting to know what we have done, there is some appreciations to our work and there is a responsible person or group who are interested in taking the news from us to the donors. The visit also helped us to prepare with photographs, reports and credentials from the other stakeholders.

Mr. Piush gave us several ideas on what we can do further with GG in the coming days.

We conducted an interactive session on conducting child rights advocacy, training and sharing the process of knowledge building about child  rights with a team from Orissa.

We have also worked during this period reading and critiquing the National Education Policy proposed by GOI in 2019. Soon we will be sending our recommendations to GoI. Secondly the second round of trainings on Child Rights will begin from July starting from Kolar and Bagalakote.
