After a successful programme held at Dharawada, Karnataka with 50 participants, the second round of the crowd funded Child Rights Training programme was held at Mangaluru with another set of 50 enthusiasts.

The programme was held at ISD, CODP, Padavu, Mangaluru in collaboration with PADI, Mangaluru an NGO working on child rights and specifically on child education issues. The programme was inaugurated by Justice Kadaluru Sathyanarayanacharya, Chief Judicial and Sessions Judge, Dakshina Kannada. Justice Mallanagowda, Senior Civil Justice and Member of the District Legal Services Authority, Dakshina Kannada was the chief guest. Vasudeva Sharma, Executive Director CRT, Bengaluru and Renni D'Sowza presided over the programme.

The participants were from various NGOs and Govt departments from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Mysuru, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan. For all the participants the training was something new on issues related ot child rights and were eager to know about the details of child rights. Very interestingly the group was very articulative and had hundreds of questions and expectations. The participatory method of the training facilitated by Vasudeva Sharma and Nagasimha helped the participants to open up and share their opinion, ideas and also raise some basic questions related to child rights.

The two days programme, as shared by the participants helped them to get a clear idea about child rights beyond survival, protection, development and participation rights of children. They could also relate with various programmes and projects of the Govt and international agencies. The participants said that they would go back to their organisations and disseminate the learning.

The programme ended with a group game that lead to a commitment statement to uphold the rights of all children. Each participant was given a participation certificate appreciating their efforts, interest in upholding rights of children. The participants thanked all the donors who have contributed to make this series of programmes a possibility through GlobalGiving and ImpactGuru platforms.

The next programme will be held at Mandya on 18th and 19th Sept. 2018
