I can hardly believe it's been 15 years since the journey of working on the Prevention and Healing of Child Sexual Abuse started. June 2006 it was. We are now in June 2021.
It feels lovely to reach this milestone.
I don't think we can fully comprehend the magnitude of work that Team Arpan and it's eco-system of Partners and Donors have done with the guidance of Board Members and Advisors. But I can share how I feel today. I feel pride, satisfaction, joy and wonderment. It's been an amazing and empowering journey for all of us, of deep change and transformation for us and the people we worked with, of building valuable relationships internally and externally on the foundation of love, trust and respect, of hard work and levels of perseverance and motivation I couldn't imagine we would be able to find within us. The journey was also tough and interspersed with grief and pain when we heard the thousands of stories of abuse and trauma from children and adults we worked with. It pushed us to be very thoughtful and strategic in every decision we took. We didn't want any child harmed. There were also times when we got tired, but we have always chosen to rise again and again and again. The children have kept us going; their appreciation towards us for teaching them about personal safety, the immediate reporting to adults about unsafe touches and situations, the abuse stopping, the countless healing journeys that lead to transformation, the smiles on those little faces, the family members more equipped to protect children, teachers and other professionals more equipped to address CSA, personal safety now a part of the National life skills curriculum of India. All of this has kept us on the path, motivated and going strong.
There are other challenges that came our way but we looked at them as opportunities of change. Over time we grew from a start-up into a mature, agile, innovative, learning and resilient organization, a thought leader in the space of Prevention and Healing in India, advocating for systemic change and also known globally.
With tremendous perseverance and passion, the mandate to do excellent work with respect, care and compassion, with integrity and accountability, with trust and fairness, the team has impacted 1.6 million/16 lakh children and adults pan India to date and reached 27 million/2.7 crores through varied media. We have won 6 National level awards and 2 International level awards for our work so far.
Watch this milestone video that captures the highlights of what we have done and achieved in 15 Years.
As we look forward to the next 15 years, we are excited to impact millions more children and adults to create a World Free of Child Sexual Abuse and continue to be humbled and motivated by all the thousands of children we work with.
We have made some videos to mark this milestone taking thoughts from everyone who's been an integral part of the journey.
Hear our invaluable key donors along the journey sharing their insights on walking with us all through these years.
Our Partners have been critical co-travellers on this journey. Hear their thoughts.
Hear me and our Board members share their thoughts on this milestone and what the future looks like.
Our Advisors have been wonderful, helping us on varied aspects to strengthen Arpan's work. Listen to them.
This journey wouldn't be possible without the commitment and sheer hard work and perseverance of our team. Listen to some of them and enjoy the visuals to see how our team grew over the years.
Thank you everyone for being on this journey with us. Please continue to walk with us and together let's keep our children safe from sexual abuse.
