We have been receiving preemies from different hospitals around Port-au-Prince and from an ambulance service in the city. We currently have three babies in incubators. They were tiny on admission. they weighed between 2 pounds and 3 pounds. They all needed oxygen and two needed bilirubin lights due to jaundice. Most hospitals cannot provide these things here in Haiti. The few who can were full and could not take these babies. Our nursery provides not only for the babies but we also encourage the mothers to come and stay with their precious ones. We want to teach the mothers how to care for these tiny babies so by the time they are ready to go home, the mothers are experts at caring for their child! They are also able to eat well while here and go home strong and healthy with their babies.
We need your help to keep our nursery going. Without donations, we cannot provide this free service to Haitian mothers and their premature infants. We ask nothing from the mothers except to love and help care for their babies. We do not want to burden them with having to find funds to pay for hospital care when most cannot even afford to buy food!
Please help us care for the Premature infants of Haiti by making a donation today!
