GLA is working to offer greater access and expanded NICU care at our facility in Haiti. We are working to remodel an existing building for this purpose. This retrofit allows GLA to off a larger NICU and step-down unit. This expansion will also provide access to a higher quality of care and position GLA for further growth to address medical needs in our surrounding area while maintaining a focus on our original demographic of premature babies.
A group of board members and volunteers joined us at our Ft. Jaques campus toward the end of 2021. This group of volunteers was able to advance the relocation project by removing some existing interior walls. Maintenance and support staff are currently laying off proposed new walls and making adjustments for maximum efficiency in layout. An electrical team with a specialization in solar power was brought in to consult and power needs and quote the required work for installation.
A generous donor helped fund the purchase of medication, 5 new incubators, monitors, and other equipment. This will allow GLA to open our new NICU space with 6 new incubators and mostly new support equipment as well. Thanks for partnering with GLA!
