On April 11th we had premature triplets come to our NICU: two girls & one boy. They were born about seven weeks early and weighed between 2 lbs. 2 oz. & 2 lbs. 5 oz. Two of the babies required CPAP to help their little lungs work effectively. The third little one was very strong on arrival and only required a little supplemental oxygen. They needed IV therapy, antibiotics, and respiratory stimulants to stabilize them in their first few days of life. Since being in our NICU, they have adapted well to feeding and have gained weight. Their mom is here and is so grateful that her three tiny ones are receiving the care that they need. Thanks to your generous contributions, she does not have to worry about scraping up the funds to cover the medical bills but can focus on loving on her babies as they grow.
A lot of teamwork has gone into caring for these three preemies. Without our incredible nurses, access to lifesaving equipment, and prayer, the outcome for these triplets could have been vastly different. Often times twins and triplets do not survive in Haiti. This is generally due to the moms’ lack of access to prenatal care, healthy food, and well-equipped hospitals. Our NICU is one of the few places within the country of Haiti that provides critical care that premature babies require to survive.
Your support enables GLA to give babies like these three a chance to survive. Thank you!
