Thanks to your generous contribution, this week 7 of the students who graduated from the School in Mbaracayu in 2011 have started their second year at the National University of Villarica. These girls are pursuing various degrees including psychology, accounting, environmental engineering, zootechnics and agro-industrial engineering.
They are pursuing four-year programs to which they have to add the time that it takes them to develop and defend a thesis project upon completion of required courses to receive their university diploma. We have received the reports from their university with satisfactory results that prove the support you are providing for the girls is a valuable investment for their future! Most of the girls would like to work in their field of study when they graduate, preferably in their communities, but are also willing to work elsewhere in the country where they can continue to grow professionally. They have dreams to continue their studies, but this will depend on economic conditions upon graduation.
Some of the girls are already working while in school: two of them work in a telephone company, one has joined the firefight department as a volunteer and is undergoing training to become a firefighter, two other girls have small businesses of catalog products sale. These way the girls are able to help their families by covering some of their basic daily expenses that along with the scholarships they receive allows them to continue with their studies.
The scholarships for school and housing spending have been a great contribution, allowing the girls to live in a comfortable and safe place that enables the students to be focused on their education as they pursue their dreams of a better future.
Thank you so much for your support! We wish our students a very successful 2013!
