Street Hawking Keeps Children From Education

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

We sincerely thank you for your support toward the Help Nigerian Street-Hawking Kids Return to School project. Your contribution is truly appreciated and gives hope to vulnerable children who deserve a chance at education.

In our last report, we shared that three children were selected to begin school in January 2026. However, after assessment, it became clear that their English level was not yet strong enough for immediate enrollment.

We are not discouraged. Our volunteers are currently helping the children with basic English lessons, and we are happy to report that they are coping well and making progress. We are now preparing to enroll them when the first term begins in September 2026.

At the same time, we remain hopeful that additional support will come before then so we can increase the number of children admitted into school.

Many children across Northern Nigeria remain trapped in street hawking because their families cannot afford school fees, books, uniforms, or meals. Without education, these children remain exposed to exploitation, abuse, and dangerous street conditions.

This project is designed to support children with school fees, uniforms, books, meals, and community engagement activities that encourage families to keep children in school instead of on the streets.

With the right support, more children can leave street hawking behind and begin building safer and brighter futures through education.

Thank you for your kindness and continued support.

Sincerely,

Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
