This period was filled with joy and miracles especially for two Kenyan families. It began with a need to provide urgent heart surgeries for two young children. Patient Wadi prognosis was unnerving at 20/80 percent chance of survival. Patient Hera case was complicated. These young patients started their journey to Chennai India in late December heading to Apollo Children’s Hospital where a team of surgeons were awaiting their arrival. While on the way, and during a stopover in Dubai, patient Hera had an unexpected emergency. As fate works, the airport authority and Dubai government ensured that patient Hera and her mother received all necessary care and support at no cost to them. They made it to India and patient Hera had successful heart surgery. Patient Wadi also received a blessing in that specialist surgeons were able to perform the much needed complicated surgery and the young patient is well on her way to making a full recovery.
Five more children received heart surgeries at Tenwek Hospital, Kenya in February by a visiting team of doctors from the United States of America. The joys of success of these surgeries could not be contained as families expressed their happiness to the surgeons, hospital personnel and THAP administration for their kind assistance. All patients are doing exceedingly well.
THAP also helped fifty (50) other children and families receive critical services and support during the quarter as shown below:
CAC and THAP are encouraged by the progress being made and continue to forge ahead with increased services for children and families in Kenya. Partnerships and support from benefactors which play a crucial role in this endeavor are constantly being strengthened. Your care and funds mean the world to our work without which we cannot function. Thank you for your love and continued gifts that help change lives of deserving children and families.
