Children and Charity is pleased to report that preparations are now underway for a U.S. medical mission team led by Dr. Karimi, Chief of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia Children's Hospital to come to Nairobi for Take Heart Association Project (THAP) August 27-September 3. Their June trip needed to be postponed until August due to schedule conflicts of key medical team members.
Thirteen children currently on THAP’s waiting list will be evaluated by Dr. Karimi and the team for medical care, heart surgeries and catheterizations. Dr. Karimi will make the final selection of children to be treated.
In the meantime, two other THAP children will be traveling to Chennai, India and Sarasota, Florida for surgery in July and August thanks to individual donors, corporate sponsors, and the Gift of Life program of Rotary International. Both families stayed at THAP’s Family Support Center in Nairobi while they were undergoing diagnostic tests and being reviewed by cardiologists in Kenya in preparation for their upcoming medical treatment.
THAP’s waiting list continues to grow as more families with children with heart problems are referred to Peter Mbogo Kamau and his staff at THAP. We have an increasing need for funds to help these children get the life-saving heart surgery they need.
Thank you for your continued support as your support is helping these children develop into healthy and happy children, able to attend school and do things that all children love to do.
